The opening of the Pastoral Year is held annually by Cana Movement. The aim of this event is to look forward and plan the Pastoral Activity for the Family in the near future.
This was held on the 21st October and the theme chosen was : The state of the Family today and plans for the coming years.
Dr Joe Cassar, President of Cana Movement introduced this event. He took a clue Pope Francis by which he closed the World Meeting of Families held in Rome last June. He likened families to ‘boats, unstable, in journey’. This is the state of our families, especially after the bad experience of Covid – 19.
Fr Charles Attard, Director of Cana Movement, also spoke about the difficult times our families are going trough. He quoted various issues Cana counsellors encounter during councelling sessions.
Dr Robert Tufigno, Cana Council member spoke about the need of education in our families.
Mr Joe Mangion, Head of Counselling at Cana Movement shared his reflections on the recent Census of the Population regarding the family.
This event ended by those present taking part in workshops. They discussed issues related to the theme of the event.
